## What it's like

Our old listing here covered Baron Baptiste's Power Vinyasa method and the Brookline studio that taught it. That studio is still going at 25 Harvard Street in Brookline, now as Baptiste Power Yoga Boston.

Be clear on what this is before you plan a trip: it's a neighbourhood yoga studio, not a place you sleep. You come for a class or a training weekend and go home (or back to your hotel) afterwards. What you get in return is a focused, consistent version of a style that's shaped a lot of modern American yoga.

The room is hot. The studio heats it to the mid-to-upper 90s Fahrenheit and adds humidity, while bringing in fresh air. Classes follow Baptiste's Journey Into Power sequence, a set flow of postures that the teacher adapts with options to soften or deepen poses. The studio frames the practice as more than a workout, mixing postures with meditation and self-inquiry. Reviewers on ClassPass describe the classes as tough and sweaty and the space as large and bright.

The studio is run by co-owners Brandon Compagnone and Naima Workman, who've also run Shiva Shakti Power Yoga in Northampton, Massachusetts, since 2008. The studio describes itself as one of very few dedicated Baptiste studios and keeping that lineage alive in Boston.

## The programs

There are two main class formats:

- **All Levels:** the classic Baptiste Power Yoga class built on the Journey Into Power sequence, open to beginners and experienced students alike
- **Hour of Power:** the same approach in a 60-minute format, with a stronger emphasis on flow

The bigger draw for travellers is the 200-hour teacher training. The 2026 programme was led by the two owners and ran across eight weekends in person at the Brookline studio, from September to early December. Each weekend runs Friday evening, a long Saturday and most of Sunday. It covers sequencing, hands-on assisting, practice teaching, meditation, anatomy and philosophy, with 160 classroom hours and 40 hours outside class. The curriculum meets Yoga Alliance standards, so graduates can register as 200-hour teachers.

To apply, you need to be at least 18 and able to attend every session. Check the teacher training page for the next intake and its application deadline.

## Who it suits (and who it doesn't)

It suits you if you like a vigorous, heated practice with a clear structure, or if you live in or near Boston and want a weekend-based teacher training that won't make you quit your job. It's also a solid stop for visiting yogis who already practise Baptiste-style power yoga and want to take class at a studio built around it.

It's less suited to anyone who wants a gentle or restorative practice, struggles in heat, or is looking for a residential retreat with meals and rooms. The training's weekend format also only works if you can get to Brookline eight times over the season.

## Getting there

The studio is at 25 Harvard Street in Brookline, Massachusetts, a town bordering Boston. If you're visiting for the teacher training, you'll need to sort your own accommodation in Boston or Brookline for each weekend.

New students should look at the studio's "What to Know" page before a first class, since the heat takes some getting used to. Bring water and a towel.
