## What it's like

YO1 sits on more than 1,300 acres of lakes and pine forest at 420 Anawana Lake Road in Monticello, in New York's Catskill Mountains. Part of the land was once the well-known Kutsher's resort. Today it's a dedicated health resort with 131 rooms and suites, many looking out over Bailey Lake.

The approach blends several traditional systems of healing: Ayurveda from India, naturopathy, yoga and acupuncture. Every guest starts with a personal wellness consultation, and the program is built from there. Counselors make recommendations after a health assessment, and you're never required to do a therapy you're not comfortable with.

Even if you don't book a full program, there's a lot included with a stay: a steam shower, sauna, infrared sauna, indoor pool, hot tub, reflexology walkway, aqua bikes, a 24-hour gym, group yoga and meditation, and trails for walking and biking. Outside picked YO1 in 2025 as one of its trips for a healthier, longer life.

## The programs

YO1 offers a long list of targeted programs, including:

- **Introductory, Restorative and Wellness Starter** stays for first-timers.
- **Detox** and **Weight Management**.
- **Insomnia**, **Anxiety**, **Pain**, and **Depression and Stress** programs.
- **Immunity Booster** and **Digestive Health**.
- Programs focused on **Type 2 diabetes**, **cholesterol and hypertension**, and **fertility**.
- **Discover Your Dosha**, an introduction to Ayurvedic body types.
- A **3 Nights Wellness** program, longer multi-week stays and a monthly pass.

Therapies span Ayurvedic massage such as Abhyanga and Shirodhara, naturopathic treatments including hydrotherapy, mud therapy, reflexology and diet guidance, plus acupuncture, yoga and meditation. Some therapies aren't suitable for people with certain conditions, such as pregnancy, recent surgery or unstable heart problems, and the resort lists these in its FAQ.

If you can't stay overnight, a day pass runs from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. with selected therapies, yoga and meditation.

## Food

Meals are vegetarian, chef-prepared and locally sourced, with vegan and gluten-free options on request. The kitchen accommodates allergies and therapeutic diets if you tell them ahead of time. Meals are served at set times, and outside food isn't allowed.

## Who it suits (and who it doesn't)

YO1 is a good fit for adults who want a real therapeutic stay with daily treatments, especially if they're dealing with stress, sleep trouble, weight or digestive issues. Being close to New York City makes it handy for a short reset.

It's not a family resort. Guests under 16 aren't allowed, there's no childcare, and 16 and 17-year-olds need a consenting adult with them. If you want a party atmosphere or rich restaurant food, this isn't the place.

## Getting there

YO1 is about 90 miles northwest of New York City, roughly two hours by car via Route 17 West, depending on traffic. You can also take the train and arrange a road transfer, or book a car service. Parking on site is free.
