How we choose retreats

By Retreat Vacations Editors · Checked · 1 min read

Every retreat center on Retreat Vacations is checked against its official website and, where possible, against what leading travel publications recommend. We don't accept payment to be listed or ranked.

Our sources

  • The center itself: its official website and published programs, checked when we write or update a profile.
  • Leading travel publications: lists and features from publications such as Travel + Leisure, National Geographic and Condé Nast Traveler. When a center was recommended in 2025 or 2026, we show it under "As recommended in" with a link to the original article.
  • Our own archive: Retreat Vacations has covered retreat centers since 2012.

It means a named publication recommended the center in a dated article, which we link to. It isn't an endorsement of us by that publication, and we don't copy their text. We summarize in our own words why they picked it.

What we don't do

  • We don't accept payment to be listed, ranked or recommended.
  • We don't publish prices, because they change often. Check the center's own website.
  • We don't invent reviews, ratings or awards.

Keeping things current

Each profile shows the date we last checked it. We recheck every profile at least once a year and whenever a reader tells us something has changed.

Partner content

Occasionally an article may be produced with a partner. When that's the case, it's marked "Partner Content" at the top.
