SHA Wellness Clinic

SHA Wellness Clinic is a medical wellness and longevity clinic on the Mediterranean coast at L'Albir, near Alicante in Spain. It suits people who want a doctor-led program with diagnostics, personalized nutrition and therapies, whether the goal is detox, weight, sleep, stress or longer-term health.

What it's like

SHA sits on the Mediterranean coast at L'Albir, part of L'Alfàs del Pi near Alicante, looking out toward the sea and the Sierra de Altea. The clinic makes a lot of the local climate, with its clean air and bright light, and treats it as part of the experience.

It's one of Europe's best-known medical wellness clinics, and it has featured repeatedly in National Geographic coverage: for its sleep program in 2025, and in 2026 for both its longevity work and its women's health unit. It was also named Spain's best wellness retreat at the 2025 World Spa Awards.

Rooms are suites rather than standard hotel rooms. They start with Deluxe suites of about 70 square meters and rise through Superior, Grand, Presidential and a duplex Royal suite with a pool terrace. There are also private residences with their own pools and a villa for families who want more space.

The programs

SHA builds everything around what it calls the SHA Method, which pairs lifestyle basics such as food, sleep and movement with diagnostics, medical treatments and holistic therapies. Its main health programs are:

Programs typically include diagnostics at the start of your stay, doctor consultations and treatments, a personalized meal plan and unlimited use of the hydrotherapy circuit, fitness areas and recovery spaces. Stays of four days or more include a private return transfer.

You can add focused packs. Sleep Well looks for the root causes of poor sleep, and the Women's Health unit focuses on hormonal health through perimenopause, menopause and beyond. Men's health, gut health, quitting smoking and cognitive packs are also available.

Food

Meals are medically designed and adjusted to each guest's metabolism and goals, rather than chosen freely from a menu. The detox programs follow an anti-inflammatory approach.

Who it suits (and who it doesn't)

SHA is a great fit if you want a serious, measurable health reset with doctors, data and a comfortable suite to come back to. It's especially relevant for sleep problems, weight goals, burnout and midlife women's health.

It's not for anyone wanting a casual spa break, a social yoga holiday or the freedom to eat and drink as they please during their stay.
