We started with the 130 retreats we've profiled on this site and checked which of them leading publications have recommended in 2025 and 2026. The places named by two or more different publications come first, because independent agreement is the best signal we've got. Next come places one magazine has written about more than once. The rest is a deliberate spread by region and style, so there's something here whether you want a medical clinic, a hot spring or a week of yoga in the desert. No retreat pays to appear, and we link every article so you can read the original yourself. We don't rank within the list.

SHA Wellness Clinic, Spain. The most cited place on our list. National Geographic has featured it three times: for its clinically assessed sleep program in a story on sleep tourism, for its new longevity outpost in Abu Dhabi in a piece on longevity tourism, and for its women's health unit in a story on sexual wellness. The World Spa Awards named it Spain's best wellness retreat for 2025. It's a doctor-led clinic on the coast near Alicante, so expect diagnostics and a personal plan rather than a lazy spa week.

Clinique La Prairie, Switzerland. On the shore of Lake Geneva since 1931, with more than 50 doctors on site by the clinic's count. National Geographic's longevity story picked out its Revitalisation program, which pairs deep diagnostics and DNA ageing tests with a tailored plan, and the World Spa Awards named it Switzerland's best for 2025.

Huus Quell, Switzerland. A 30-room spa and longevity hotel in the Appenzell village of Gonten. Outside put it in its best wellness destinations for 2026, and TIME named it one of the World's Greatest Places 2026. The spa has nine pools and eight saunas and steam grottos, plus cryotherapy and hyperbaric oxygen. The train station is a minute's walk away.

Palazzo Fiuggi, Italy. A medical wellness retreat on a hilltop about an hour from Rome. Forbes Australia included it in its wellness destinations to visit, and it won World's Best Wellness Retreat at the 2025 World Spa Awards. Most programs start at seven nights, and there's no alcohol or coffee served.

Euphoria Retreat, Greece. In Mystras near Sparta, blending ancient Greek ideas, Chinese medicine and modern health testing. Forbes Australia praised its holistic programs and sphere pool, and it was named Greece's best wellness retreat for 2025. Five days is the suggested minimum.

Zulal Wellness Resort by Chiva-Som, Qatar. Built around Traditional Arabic and Islamic Medicine, with an adults-only side and a family side. National Geographic included it in its burnout retreats roundup, and it was named Qatar's best for 2025.

Shou Sugi Ban House, United States. Twelve guest studios in the Hamptons, about 90 miles from New York City. Forbes Australia and the World Spa Awards both singled it out, so it's a strong pick for a short reset close to the city.

Champneys, United Kingdom. Four residential spa resorts in England, with Tring hosting guests since 1925. National Geographic listed it among UK picks for a Pilates break, and it was named England's best for 2025.

Ojo Caliente, New Mexico. Outside has written about it three times, in its 2026 wellness list, its longevity trips and its hot-springs resorts. Expect long soaks in mineral pools and morning yoga.

Esalen Institute, California. The Big Sur workshop center, founded in 1962, appears in both of those Outside stories for its workshops and cliffside hot springs.

Rancho La Puerta, Mexico. Running since 1940, it got a full Outside profile as North America's original wellness resort. It's a week of classes, hikes and mostly vegetarian food.

Glen Dye, Scotland. National Geographic picked this Highland estate for Best of the World 2026 and wrote it up separately as a family tech detox. Think woodland sauna, wood-fired tubs and forest bathing.

A wider spread by region and style

Canyon Ranch Tucson, Arizona. A large all-inclusive desert resort that National Geographic's Best of the World 2026 noted for its sound sessions and walking labyrinth.

Gangtey Lodge, Bhutan. A small lodge beside a working monastery, in Outside's 2026 list for its Buddhist-led programs and hot stone bath.

Ahãma, Türkiye. A bay-front hotel in a protected forest near Fethiye, also in Outside's 2026 list, with a forest Sound Temple for gong sessions.

Six Senses Vana, India. A full-board Ayurveda and Tibetan medicine retreat in the Himalayan foothills. A Forbes Travel Guide inspector told Forbes Australia it's the one hotel they'd return to.

Santani Wellness Kandy, Sri Lanka. A hill-estate resort whose five-night Ayurvedic sleep program featured in National Geographic's sleep tourism story.

Mountain Trek, Canada. A 7-night hiking reset in British Columbia that National Geographic included among its burnout picks.

JOALI BEING, Maldives. A private-island resort with 5 to 10-night programs, named best wellness retreat for the Indian Ocean and the Maldives in 2025.

Reclaim Yourself Mongolia. A ten-night ger-camp yoga trip in the Gobi, chosen for National Geographic's Best of the World 2026.
